About Senior Travel Insurance Guide
Senior Travel Insurance Guide is an independent publisher of plain-English guides about travel insurance and medical coverage for travelers, written for adults in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond — and for the family members who help them decide.
How we research
Every guide starts from primary sources and links to them, so you can check our work. The ones we rely on most:
- Insurers' own policy wordings, certificates of coverage and plan documents
- U.S. Department of State guidance for travelers
- Medicare.gov on coverage outside the United States
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) travelers' health guidance
- State insurance regulators and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC)
Prices, rules and product details change, so each guide shows the date it was last updated, and we revisit guides when the facts move.
Who writes our guides
Guides are written and checked by the Senior Travel Insurance Guide editorial team. We are not an insurance company, agent or broker, and nothing on this site is insurance advice. Policies differ, so read the policy wording and ask the insurer before you buy.
Our editorial policy explains how a guide is researched, checked and corrected.
How the site is paid for
Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never decide what we recommend, and no company can pay to be included or ranked. Details are in our affiliate disclosure.
